On Wednesday Cameron and I had an appointment for another growth ultrasound for Lilianna. As well as a clinic visit and a fetal echocardiogram with Dr.Kazmous (the specialist). We arrived at 9am and had the ultrasound right away. Our least favorite tech was doing my ultrasound that day. She has terrible bed-side manner and is very rough with the ultrasound wand. We got Lilianna's updated measurements and verified the state of my ovaries, cervix and placenta. All look good. Lily didn't behave enough to get a picture of her time that would look anything like her, so unfortunately we left empty handed. It was confirmed by the doctor that Lilianna's head is in the NORMAL range for a baby her age and she's progressing at her own pace. She is weighing in at 2lbs and 12in long. I was a little newborn, so the doctor thinks she is just following in my footsteps and she will just be a peanut as well. Which I am relieved about. We were nervous going into this appointment because we just wanted to make sure her growth was progressing in the right bracket of expectancy.
In the clinic visit Paula (our midwife) went over my health. My kidneys and liver are doing great. Blood pressure was 126/69 (beyond perfect) and my weight is right on target. I have gained 17 pounds since becoming pregnant. So, finally I am putting on some weight and keeping it on, making my doctors happy. I have some swelling in my legs and feet (not unusual) but at this time, not symptomatic of preeclampsia. My headache is FINALLY gone, after 12 days. Still some intermittent side pain but never continuous. So that's a good sign. My blood sugars are finally getting stable. Now that' my endocrinologists are managing my insulin pump- I am feeling much better.
We moved on to see Dr.Kazmous in the outpatient surgery/cardiac procedure department of RMH. He is such a wonderful doctor. I had an hour long detailed meticulous fetal echocardiogram. Checking for normal in and out flow, working valves, no holes and all chambers pumping properly. Lilianna got a 100% on her score! Everything checked out perfect and normal. We go back for a follow up echocardiogram in 1 month. Because I am diabetic, there is a risk of holes not closing upon birth, requiring immediate surgery after she is born- so Dr.Kazmous is going to take one more look when she is 30 weeks along to make sure no holes have developed. As long as she checks out at the follow up, our risk of any heart defect is very minimal. He was extremely pleased with her progress. He said for a diabetic with history of thyroidectomy, Lilianna looks very strong and healthy. I swear, 1,000 pounds came off me and Cameron's shoulders when he said that!!! Our little peanut is a fighter. The most miraculous child. Beating all odds and obstacles thus far. We are so very grateful.
The nursery is still a work in progress. I will post an updated picture this weekend. Cameron finished painting. We installed one light fixture, and will purchase and install the ceiling fan/light this weekend. Next weekend I will order her crib. Cam assembled the glider for her room. He will clean the carpet in her room before we get all the furniture and stuff in there. I am so excited to start putting everything together and organized. Our first baby shower is February 8th already!! These next 2 1/2 months are going to fly by.
