Okay...Okay....So I'm almost a week late with this post. To my defense- I have been SO busy! And so has Lily...
Last Wednesday Cameron and I had the level 2 ultrasound for Lilianna. I was wrong about it being 3D (we will be having one of those February 25th). This ultrasound was an hour long and measured every tiny bit of her. She's measuring right on schedule! Currently she is in the breech position, so they will measure her head again next week. Her tiny legs were blocking a good view. They did, however, get a clear shot of her gender! This little girl has managed to stay a girl :0) I hope she changes position before birth, I was born breech, so I guess it's not that bad. But since it's not 1984 anymore- they automatically do a c section when a baby is breech. My Mother- the warrior- delivered me the all natural way!
Lilianna is 6.5 inches long and is weighing in at 10oz. and is 19 weeks and 3 days along (at the time of the ultrasound). She was not happy having that ultrasound wand on her for so long- so she was covering her face with her hands and wiggling all over. I allowed a student to learn for the first 15 minutes, she was so sweet. But Lilianna sure gave her a run for her money. Our little wiggle worm apparently heard me and her daddy tell her to be awake for this ultrasound!
My doctor informed me that I lost 6 pounds in 2 weeks. Which at this point is unhealthy. I was supposed to be 5 pounds up....not down. But with the stress of work, I just don't eat. I don't even remember to eat unless an alarm goes off or someone reminds me. So I was instructed to gain 10 pounds by my next visit. Which would put me where I am supposed to be at 22 weeks along. I guess Lilianna is taking all of the nutrients and I am just burning all the extra. Never have I been told to not loose weight! So I have been focusing more on eating every 2 hours. One of the doctors I work for even set an alarm on his own phone and comes into my office every 2 hours on the dot and makes sure food is going into my mouth. I have also set an alarm for every 2 hours on my insulin pump. I have pre made snacks in baggies in my cabinet in my office, so it's convenient. I hope the weight comes off this easily after I give birth. For the first time in my life, my cholesterol is in the average range and my metabolism is kicked into gear. My A1C is 6.9 (which is FANTASTIC) and I am feeling great!
After our visit we went to Buy Buy baby and made our registry. What a fun experience. Cameron got to do all the scanning with the "gun". He had a blast. I can't believe how enormous that store really is. Not to mention....how much STUFF a first child needs!!!! Talk about overwhelming. After 2 1/2 hours of meticulously combing the store, we got the basics done and I will continue to edit it on their website. However, the employees there are wonderful. They brought us bottles of water, checked in on us, made sure we understood things and directed me to the glider section so I could put my feet up for breaks. Great customer service. We left with a goodie bag full of awesome samples. (I just drank the Heartburn relieving tea last night!) I also purchased a pregnancy body pillow and an at home Doppler so we can listen to Lilianna's heartbeat, little kicks and hiccups. Very successful trip.
I return back to the doctor next Wednesday for another ultrasound of her head, a routine check up and a quick meeting with my dietitian. I also have to do a 24 hour urine test prior to going in Wednesday....which will let them track how well my kidneys are working. Gauging the amount of protein I excrete. I also have an eye doctor appointment the same day. Since I'm diabetic, I have a high risk of developing retnal ulcers and experiencing increased bad vision (even temporary blindness). So my good friend Dr.Ghuman's husband Dr.Dahliwal is going to make sure these eyes stay healthy and intact.
So, my time is mostly taken up by working and doctors visits. And being in the car (which has a new back window now....yes, I'm proud of that. After 10 months of having a window made of tape, this new sexy window deserved a mention).
